I'm so excited to let you all know I've just completed the Nutritional Therapy Association of Australia course and am now a qualified Nutritional Therapist, as well as a Health Coach (which I completed through IIN previously).
So let me explain what that means. The NTA's philosophy is "... that the myriad of health problems plaguing modern society result from weaknesses in the body's physiological foundations brought on by poor nutrition. We focus on food that the human body has evolved to consume."
What does that mean? Well, it means that we are now inundated by various forms of illness - some minor, some major - brought on by poor diet. As a nutritional therapist, I focus on teaching you to eat real, whole, properly prepared, nutrient-dense food that is nourishing to your body. Did you know your body has the ability to heal itself? What happens when you cut yourself? It heals, right? The same thing can be said for most illness. The body tries to heal itself, but if it doesn't have the right nutrients, or there is some other stress on the body, it can't.
As a Nutritional Therapist, I have been trained how to identify and address imbalances in the body; and how to intervene with nutrition to improve overall health and wellness. I have learnt about the 6 pillars of health - a nutrient dense, properly prepared, whole foods diet; digestion; blood sugar balance; hydration; mineral balance; and dietary fats. Each one of these is vital for good health. I will work out a nutritional plan for you as an individual and support you with it.
But of course, what we put in our mouths is only part of what makes us healthy. Our bodies require much more than food to be happy. If you're not sleeping enough this puts stress on your body. If you're not happy in your job or your relationship, this puts stress on your body. As a Health Coach I learnt to focus on what IIN call, Primary Foods, which are the other things that feed our bodies - Healthy Relationships, Spiritual Practice, Passionate Work, and Exercise. I will help you find which areas are holding you back and how to break through the barriers that are holding you back.
